WHY USE MARLY PRODUCTS
- I own a car which runs since more than 200.000 km. Can I use a synthetic oil?
You can without any problem choose a synthetic oil for your car. Normally, this will provoke a slight raise of the oil consumption and we advise that you control regularly the level of the oil. After a while, the oil consumption will return to normal.
- Do Black Gold Oils allow longer spaces between oil changes?
Our Black Gold Oils comply with the highest prescriptions and standards for engines. Longer spaces between oil changes are therefore technically possible, but we always advise to respect strictly the constructors’ recommendations. The Black Gold oils contain colloidal graphite and it is therefore not necessary to add another anti-wear additive.
- Which products should I use in my car?
To guarantee a good performance and a longer lifetime of your car, we advise to use the following products:
- For a diesel engine: Black Gold TDI 10w40 or TDI-S 5w40
- For a gasoline engine: Black Gold Carat 10w40 or Carat S 5w40
- For diesel fuel: C2i diesel or Cti diesel
- For gasoline fuel: C2i essence ou Cti essence
- For the gear box: Marly GX (is not suitable for automatic gear boxes)
- For the radiator: Marly HD Hydro Protect
- Are there cases in which the use of Marly additives must be avoided?
The only product is the Marly GX, which is not suitable for automatic gear boxes.
- Can I stop the use of graphited Marly products?
Without any problem. The protecting film of the graphite will disappear after a while and of course the anti-wear protection of the motor will be reduced.
- Which product to use in case of leaks?
For the engine oil : Marly Oil Leak Stop For the oil of the gear box : Marly Stop Leak Transmission For the water in the cooling system : Marly HD Hydro Stop Leak
Remark: these products are not designed to be used at each oil or water change. Normally, one single addition should solve the problem. In case the leak has not totally disappeared, repeat the operation at the next oil or water change.
CATALYSORS & FILTRES
- Can Marly additives obstruct the conduits and filters of the engine?
This is completely impossible. The Marly additives contain colloidal solid lubricants in suspension which cannot obstruct anything inside the engine. Moreover, the size of the particles is smaller than 1 micron (1/1000 mm) and the smallest conduits and the holes op the smallest filters in an engine measure minimum 50 microns, which means that they are 50 times bigger than the particles of the solid lubricants.
- Can Marly additives be harmful to catalysors?
Marly additives can not damage the catalysor. Our products do not contain CHLORE nor METALLOIDES and are consequently totally harmless.

OIL SPECIFICATIONS
- How can I decode the label on a can of engine oil?
Several standards are existing and in Europe, the standards SAE and ACEA are mostly used. The standard SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) indicates the viscosity of a lubricant with a formula (for instance 15w40). The two numbers before the W give the degree of the "winter" viscosity and the two others the degree of the "summer" viscosity". The more the "winter" figure is low, the more the oil will remain fluent by cold weather (a 5W is consequently better than a 15W). Concerning the summer figures, the more they are high, the more the oil will keep its viscosity by hot weather (50 is consequently better than 30). Normally, a 5W40 is a mineral oil, a 10W40 a semi-synthetic and a 15W40 a mineral. The ACEA (Association des Constructeurs Européens d’Automobiles) has developed a series of performance standards (for instance B1-98). The letter indicates the type of the engine, the figure de level of performance and de final figure the year of issue of the latest version of the standard. The standard starts with A for gasoline engines, B for the diesel engines of tourism cars and E for the diesel engines of heavy duty material. The figure gives performance indications (1 for a energy conserving oil, 2 for a normal oil and 3 for a heavy duty oil). Consequently, A2-98 indicates a normal oil for gasoline cars and B2-98 a normal oil for diesel cars according to the ACEA standard issued in 1998.
LEADED GASOLINE
- Which precautions must been taken when transiting from leaded to unleaded gasoline ?
You can without any problem make the transition on the condition that you add in each fill-up of unleaded gasoline the necessary dose of Marly C2000. The choice of the gasoline depends on the type of leaded gasoline that was used before : if the engine ran on Normal leaded gasoline, you must chose Euro Super, in the case of a Super leaded gasoline, a gasoline with a minimum octane-degree of 97 will be more convenient.
- Is it allowed to mix Marly C2000 with other additives ?
Marly C2000 is a substitute of lead in unleaded gasoline and may without any problem be mixed with our other fuel additives, Marly C2i or Marly CTi.
- Is it necessary to add Marly C2000 in unleaded gasoline which has already a lead substitute additive ?
For an optimal protection we advise to add Marly C2000 to this type of gasoline. This is also recommended by a number of important petroleum companies.
- Are elaborated test reports concerning Marly C2000 available ?
Marly C2000 has been submitted to elaborated tests which have shown that it is as safe as leaded gasoline. This report is available at simple request.
- I own several Old-Timer cars (more than 25 years old). Can you guarantee that Marly C2000 will not cause any damage to these vehicles ?
We guarantee that Marly C2000 is absolutely not harmful for all types of Old-Timer vehicles of all ages. This product has specially been designed for use in all vehicles (cars, motors, lawn mowers,…) that normally operate on leaded gasoline.
CAR INSPECTION
- How to prevent the risk of refusal at the car inspection due to an excess of CO exhaust (carbon monoxide)?
We advice to use regularly the Marly CTi Essence to reduce as much as possible the CO exhaust. This product guarantees a better operation of the engine and prolongs considerably the lifetime of the vehicle. When applied for the first time or in case of severe deposits, add one can at two consecutive fill-ups, afterwards once every 5000 km.
To reduce the risk of refusal at the car inspection, do not hesitate to add previously a double dose to reinforce the cleaning effects of the product. Check the airfilter and the level of the oil. Before going to the inspection, drive a longer distance on road or highway.
- How to prevent the risk of refusal at the car inspection due to an excess of soot exhaust of you diesel engine?
We advice to use regularly the Marly CTi Diesel to reduce as much as possible the soot exhaust.
CONSTRUCTOR GUARANTEE
- Some constructors forbid the use of additives and threaten otherwise to withdraw the guarantee.
It is exact that some constructors dissuade the use of additives. The reason is that the additives proposed on the market do not always have equal quality and performance and that some additives can effectively be harmful to the engine. Since more than 80 years, Marly develops and sells very high performance additives that prove their efficiency day after day. A spectacular result : thanks to Marly, a 2-litres gasoline engine has covered 1.000.000 km without any revision. In the automobile competition, many teams appreciate the advantages of the Marly products: we have even a Formula 1 Team between our customers!
The Marly products do not change the quality of the fuel and the lubricants to which they are added and do not have any influence on the viscosity of the oils that the constructors prescript. The use of Marly products can thus never lead to the suppression of the constructor’s guarantee.
Marly guarantees all its products against all mechanical damages that may occur after their correct application. It is also interesting to note that since the founding of the company there is never made appeal to this guarantee.
ZENOX® Additives
- Is ZENOX® suitable for all types of engines?
Yes, ZENOX® can be used in all types of engines, new, old, gasoline, diesel, with or without catalyser. It will also provide excellent result in motorcycles, even with a wet clutch.
- When do I have to use ZENOX®?
For optimal results, ZENOX® has to be added at every oil change, but it will be active even for extended drain intervals (till 100.000 km).
- Can I extend my drain intervals when using ZENOX®?
No, we recommend to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Can I lose my guarantee when by using ZENOX®?
No, ZENOX® does not modify the specifications of the motoroil, so that the use of this product can not lead to the suppression of the constructors guarantee.
- Can I use ZENOX® during the break-in period?
No, because of its exceptional anti-wear properties, we recommend to use ZENOX® after the break-in period.
- Can’t the ZENOX® micro-ceramic particles be abrasive?
No, the specific physical properties of these micro-ceramic particles give them exceptional lubricating properties, so that an abrasive behaviour is totally excluded.
- Can I switch to ZENOX® if I used a graphite based additive in the past?
Yes, boron nitride (micro ceramic particles) are chemically inert, so that they won’t react with any of the components that can be found in a additive or motoroil.
- Can ZENOX® obstruct the conduits and filters of the engine?
This is completely impossible. ZENOX® contains colloidal boron nitride in suspension which cannot obstruct anything inside the engine. Moreover, the size of the particles is smaller than 1 micron (1/4000 mm) and the smallest conduits and the holes op the smallest filters in an engine measure minimum 50 microns, which means that they are 50 times bigger than the particles of the solid lubricants.
- Can ZENOX® be harmful to catalysors?
ZENOX® can not damage the catalysor. Our products do not contain CHLORE nor METALLOIDES and are consequently totally harmless.
